■Muninのインストール
それでは実際にMuninを入れてみましょう。
※今回も便宜上CentOSを前提とします。なお今回監視サーバーと監視対象サーバーが以下のような構成であると仮定します。
monsvr 10.0.0.1 # 監視サーバー
host1 10.0.0.11 # 監視対象サーバー
最初に、監視サーバーと監視対象サーバーにそれぞれ必要なパッケージをインストールします。yumでMuninをインストールしようとする場合、標準のリポジトリには残念ながらMuninが存在しませんので、他のリポジトリを指定してからyumでインストールすることになります。
# rpm -Uvh http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/epel/5/i386/epel-release-5-4.noarch.rpm
# cat > /etc/yum.repos.d/dag.repo

●監視サーバーの場合
# yum -y --enablerepo=dag install munin-node
# yum -y --enablerepo=dag install munin
# yum -y install httpd
●監視対象サーバーの場合
# yum -y --enablerepo=dag install munin-node
# sed -i 's/enabled=1/enabled=0/' /etc/yum.repos.d/dag.repo

■Muninの設定
まずは監視サーバーの設定を行います。
以下の要領で設定ファイルを編集します。監視サーバーでは設定ファイルの中からホスト名だけ変更します。
(munin.confの60行目：ホスト名の変更)
# sed -i 's/localhost/monsvr/' /etc/munin/munin.conf
(munin-node.confの29行目：ホスト名指定)
# sed -i 's/#host_name x86-19.phx2.fedoraproject.org/host_name monsvr/' /etc/munin/
munin-node.conf
そしてMunin-nodeとapacheを起動します。
# service munin-node start
# service httpd start
※MuninはTCP:4949ポート、apacheはTCP:80ポートで待ち受けるようになります
最後に再起動後もmunin-nodeが自動的に上がるように設定しておきます。
# chkconfig munin-node on

■監視対象サーバーの設定
続いて監視対象サーバーの設定を行います。
以下の要領でmunin-nodeの設定ファイルを編集します。監視対象サーバーでは設定ファイルの中からホスト名と監視サーバーのIPアドレスを変更します。
(munin-node.confの29行目：ホスト名指定)
# sed -i 's/#host_name x86-19.phx2.fedoraproject.org/host_name host1/' /etc/munin/
munin-node.conf
(munin-node.confの36行目：監視サーバーからのアクセス許可)
# sed -i 's/127\\.0\\.0\\.1\$/10\\.0\\.0\\.1\$/' /etc/munin/munin-node.conf
そしてmunin-nodeデーモンを起動します。
# service munin-node start
最後に再起動後もmunin-nodeが自動的に上がるように設定しておきます。
# chkconfig munin-node on
数分ほどしたら監視情報が監視サーバー側に集まってくるので、適当なWEBブラウザで下記URLを開きます。
http://monsvr/munin/
デフォルトは5分の間隔で実行されます。これを変えたい場合は/etc/cron.d/muninを編集します。
vi /etc/cron.d/munin
*/5 * * * * munin test -x /usr/bin/munin-cron && /usr/bin/munin-cron <- */5の
部分を変更する

■監視項目の追加削除を行う
Muninでは、標準で用意されている監視項目が監視対象サーバーの「/usr/share/munin/plugins/」配下に多数存在しています。監視対象として追加したいものがあれば、その中から監視したい項目を選んで「/etc/munin/plugins/」配下にシンボリックリンクを張ってからmunin-nodeを再起動します。こうすることで監視対象を追加することができます。

■Apacheを監視対象にする例

# ln -s /usr/share/munin/plugins/apache_accesses /etc/munin/plugins/apache_accesses
# ln -s /usr/share/munin/plugins/apache_processes /etc/munin/plugins/apache_processes
# ln -s /usr/share/munin/plugins/apache_volume /etc/munin/plugins/apache_volume
ただしこのままだと各ノードのApacheが必要な情報(server-status)を吐き出してくれないので、Apacheにも設定追加を行います。

■MySQLを監視対象にする例

# ln -s /usr/share/munin/plugins/mysql_bytes /etc/munin/plugins/mysql_bytes
# ln -s /usr/share/munin/plugins/mysql_queries /etc/munin/plugins/mysql_queries
# ln -s /usr/share/munin/plugins/mysql_threads /etc/munin/plugins/mysql_threads
# service munin-node restart
逆に監視対象から外したい場合は「/etc/munin/plugins/」配下のシンボリックリンクを削除してmunin-nodeを再起動します。

■sendmailとntpを監視対象から外す例

# rm -f /etc/munin/plugins/sendmail*
# rm -f /etc/munin/plugins/ntp*
# service munin-node restart
